A year at our school
Reconciliation Week 2025
A highlight this year was our Reconciliation Week event, which brought the school community together in a spirit of respect and learning.
We’re proud to share that our school was featured on the Department’s social media platforms, recognising the meaningful work being done by our students and staff.
Cooling the School
We were excited to welcome the Cooling the Schools team from Greening Australia to Buxton PS!
Despite a very windy day, our enthusiastic students managed to plant over 100 native trees and shrubs around the school grounds. Areas included against our fence line and natives around our Yarning Circle.
By creating more shade and habitat, our students are taking real action to cool the Country and build a greener, healthier future for everyone.
A big thank you to @GreeningAustralia and everyone involved for supporting our students to make a lasting impact on our local environment.
Thirlmere Festival of Steam
We are so proud - Buxton was awarded Best Parade Entry!
The children's outfits and trains not only brought the cute factor, it was also a winning entry! And what a turn out!
A big thank you to everyone who participated in the parade this year! Thankfully the weather held off so that we could don our trains and take part. Of course these things do not happen without the clever thinking of parents with costumes, or the behind the scenes planning and creativity - a big thank you to Mrs Ollerton and Mrs Fiez for their organisation and to our wonderful parents and students for their support.
And we cannot forget Miss Johnston who really brought the fan favourite Barkley to life - she was winning the crowds with her dance moves and high fives!
